Last week the former Apple
CEO Steve Jobs passed away
Wednesday night at the age of 56, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. A day after Tim Cook the newly appointed CEO of Apple announced the new and improved iPhone 4S. Twitter was overwhelmed with so many tweets causing a massive triffic on there servers and stating "Please wait a moment and try again"
several times overnight. Jobs's name was tweeted about 4.5 million
times in less than 24 hours including celebrities like Katie
Couric, Jane Lynch, and Arnold Schwarzenegger to pay their respects on the person that revolutionize how computers are integrated with our
everyday lives. Jobs
was thanked for creating an impact to people by giving their first iMac
and iPhone, and changing how people consume media that he inspired, which is something that is unique to his legacy.
How it all began
Steve Jobs with Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne discovered Apple in 1976.
In 1984, the company introduced the Macintosh 128K, the first
mainstream computer that abandoned text-only commands in exchange of a
graphical user interface (GUI) for short. Together with the invention of the mouse, a device which
is so crucial to modern computing that it hasn't changed in nearly three
decades unless if you're of those gamer who wants to go hardcore and purchase a mouse with a few more extra functional buttons.
In 1986 Jobs adapted a small division of film studio in
Lucasfilm, he then renamed this computer animation company to what it's been known today "Pixar". Job's team created an
expensive computer imaging technology and negotiated a deal with Disney to produce
full-length animation movies. After a string of record-breaking films, he sold the company to Disney for approximately $7.4 billion.
Return to Apple
When
Jobs returned to Apple, the company was in chaos.
Competing manufacturers held Apple software licenses and were making
clones of the company's hardware, Jobs
immediately ceased the project and brought all Apple development back on track.
From there he launch of
the iMac and iBook, two of the most iconic Apple products in the
company's history. Apple's hardware began to give the company an edgy
appeal, and consumers ate it up. Apple's stock seemed to have no
ceiling, as each new product brought new customers into the company's
dedicated fan base.
The iPod took the world by storm
Apple
launched the iPod in 2001, which completely
revolutionized the way we listen to music. The iPod generation is by far
the most popular of them all with ongoing production of iPod Touch currently on its 4th generation, and with iTunes purchasing songs online made listening to
music so affordable and easy.
The birth of a new era the iPhone
In 2007 Jobs created a smartphone that was far unique than what most people have seen, so he launched what's unarguably the best-selling Apple product to date, the iPhone. A device that got a lukewarm reception and it's hard to imagine a world without it cause it took
one giant leap to the smartphone scenes in a
positive prospective that changes how we interact with phones today.
The evolution of the tablets the iPad
When the iPhone solidify its position on the market. Jobs once again took a step further by introducing a tablet that
didn't try to be a computer the iPad which was release on April 2010. Its size and weight fall between those of contemporary smartphones and laptop computers, and can run its own applications as well as iPhone applications.
Both the iPhone and iPad product lines have
seen massive success and after 4 versions of Apple's smartphone and two
iPads, the company is the most valuable brand name in consumer electronics hearts.
Life threat & Decision
Jobs announced he was confined with pancreatic cancer to the public in 2004. He went through various treatments,
Jobs continued to perform his duties at Apple, promising only to step
down when he felt the time was right. A few months ago, on
August 24, Steve Jobs officially resigned from his post as CEO.
